Paris 2024 Has Begun !

The 2024 Olympic Games have begun and already the hockey has started !  Click through to find out more; how you can watch and which East Grinstead players are representing ! 

Featured in the image are East Grinstead Women's 1st team players Grace Balsdon, Laura Roper, Lily Walker and Tess Howard inside the Paris 2024 Olympic Hockey Stadium.  The Great Britain Women's side open their tournament tomorrow (Sunday July 28th) against Spain at 12:15 BST.  The action is available on Discovery+.  Laura will be competing in her final Olympic Games, having won Bronze at London 2012, Gold in Rio 2016 and Bronze at Tokyo 2021.  Tess Howard will compete in her first Olympic Games having suffered a knee injury just prior to Tokyo.  Grace secured Bronze at Tokyo 2021 and is this time a travelling reserve alongside Lily Walker.

This morning, at 09:00 BST, The Great Britain Men opened up their tournament.  Currently ranked 2nd in the world by the FIH (Federation of International Hockey), GB Men are hoping to be in medal contention.

This morning's game saw GB run our 4:0 winners with goals from Park, Furlong (2) and Shipperley.  The GB Men played extremely well with lots of dynamic attacking and have made a strong statement in that opening match.  GB HOckey's full match report is available HERE.
