East Grinstead Hockey Club was founded in 1897 following a spell in the 1860s in which hockey was routinely played in East Grinstead High Street each Good Friday. We are gradually publishing the history of EGHC via a set of archives: https://eghockey.co.uk/our-club/history In the 1960's a group of families - the Lemans, Blunts and Buckleys, joined together to purchase land so the club could move to Saint Hill just outside East Grinstead, where it is based today. EGHC won its first National Titles in the 1983 as the Men won the overall National Title. Since then, the Men have won the top tier title a further thee times and the woman once, in 2023. The club strives to balance performance, grass roots development and sport for all while retaining core family values. The Men have won the National Indoor title 14 times and the women 4 times. Titles in each of the past 5 decades shows the generations of passion at the club and a drive to grow next generation talent and continue to compete at the highest level while having fun and developing lasting relationships.
