East Grinstead Hockey Club was founded in 1897 and won its first National Titles in the 1980s as the Men won the overall National Title. Since then, the Men have won the top tier title a further thee times and the woman once, in 2023. The Men have won the National Indoor title 14 times and the women 3 times. EGHC has grown a significant social following, such that even the inforaphic is out of date the moment it is published. We actively promote our content online through web and social media, expanding the reach of the brands which support us. Our social media followers are heavily centred around the South East of England but in fact also reach worldwide with a good proportion of international followers.
EGHC launched its YouTube channel in 2020 and it's already grown to be the largest hockey club channel in the UK, and keeps on growing. We stream 20 home matches each season in the Premier League and look for opportunities to stream Talent Academy and other matches where possible. Our Livestream reaches a global audience, and we include video advertisements from partners as well as graphic overlays to reflect the partnerships that support us.
Although the main hockey club season runs between September and April, hockey has become a 365 day sport. European Club competitions usually round off the season, and talent development camps continue to operate all year round. In parallel, International Matches also take place all year round, with the advent of the Pro League, in which England or Great Britain (in an Olympic Year) compete. Major tournaments such as Euronations, Commonwealth Games, World Cups and Olympic Games typically take place during the summer and all raise interest levels in our sport. Competing at the top level means East Grinstead often has representatives in the major international matches and tournaments, and focusing on growing next generation talent means EGHC also operates all kinds of hockey activity all year round.
