Fabulous tournament for our Juniors supporting a very worthy cause!

On Sunday, June 15th, EG u10s and u13s headed down to the coast to take part in a 7aside charitable tournament hosted down in Eastbourne.

Not only does the tournament present our summer hockey juniors with a great opportunity to play some competitive hockey during the summer months, but it supports a great cause - Meningitis Research, and the memory of Eddie Rosen a hockey GK, who sadly passed away at the age of 18 in 1999 from meningococcal septicaemia.

The U10s kicked off the day in perfect sunshine conditions.

Our U10G were made up mainly of U8s making their first steps into 7aside tournament hockey, and came up against some very good teams. Despite the results, their spirits never wained and the experience they gained from this tournament will do heaps for their development, improving so much as the tournament went on. Well done girls!

The U10B were a good mix of experienced U10s, and U8s making their first steps into 7aside hockey. They came an impressive third out of seven teams, losing out to very good teams in Knole Park and Raw Skills. Excellent work boys!
Our U13s soon began their matches in what proved to be a very high standard of hockey.

The U13G were a great mix of u12s and experienced u13s, and they gelled instantly to play some fantastic hockey. They came second, out of five, behind a very good Knole Park team, losing out to them by the 1 goal. Fantastic work girls!

Finally, our U13B rounded off the day coming third out of six, with a great mix of experienced technical players, to complete beginners! Well done boys!

It was a fantastic day for not just the players, but also the charitable event. Thank you to all the parents, coaches and volunteers who made the day very special. Special mention to the Fathers who gave up their Father's Day to allow their children to play.

Many thanks to Eastbourne for putting on a brilliant tournament. As one of our juniors said "I wish we could do this every Sunday".
