News & Notes…

Ladies 1's games to date have been showpieces for the defences, with their cumulative f/a standing at 5-5 through the opening 7 games of the season. Their hosts last week, Clifton, in contrast have seen a series of relative goal-fests, sitting at 12-12, so something was going to have to give.

One Zoe Burrell hat-trick later, and EG took the points, coming out on top by the odd goal in 7…

Another long away trip for Men's 1's, and another match aggregate of 7 goals, although the result was a little more lopsided. Liam Ansell and Simon Faulkner grabbed late consolation goals, but chasing a 4 goal deficit at that stage proved too much, and Beeston won 5-2…

Following three consecutive draws, the Ladies 2's picked up their 3rd win of the season, 4-1 over Banbury, with Eloise Richards scoring twice; their unbeaten streak extends to 7…

League / Cup double header for the Men's 2's, starting with a 2-2 draw against fellow strugglers Bromley & Beckenham.

Sunday's cup tie against Hampstead & Westminster Zaks was set up to be almost as tense; After staking an early 2-0 lead, EG allowed the visitors back in, and the match stayed poised at 2-1 for most of the first half. Things were broken open quickly though with 2 quick goals just before half time for a 4-1 lead at the break, from which EG never looked back. Will Arthur grabbed a birthday hat-trick, and Jordan Torilla and Harry Turner each scored a pair as the home side ran out 10-1 victors. They'll travel to Eastbourne in the next round on the 3rd December…

Both 3rd XI's faced off against the leaders in their respective leagues, and despite generally respectable performances, the results were entirely predictable. The Men face the 2nd place team this week, and 3rd placed next, so things aren't getting any simpler…

Marielle Cailao scored a hat-trick for the Ladies 4's as they defeated Lewes 5-0 at Southdown…

The Saints were unable to capitalise on chances, and lost 0-2 to Bromley & Beckenham. Performances improving, but results yet to turn around as they've now lost each of their opening 5 games…

And finally both the Men's 4's and Badgers secured 3-1 wins over St Francis sides, though the 4's win was apparently the more dramatic, as they came back from 1-0 down with 5 minutes to play…
