EGHC Ladies Enter Last Week of Championship Finals Preparations

IMG_0820

EGHC Ladies are in their final week of preparations for the League Championship Playoff Finals to be played at Lee Valley on Saturday & Sunday April 28th and 29th.

EGHC Ladies 1st Team have one week to go until their League Championship Semi-Final.  Having finished the regular league season in 3rd place, their opponents will be Holcombe, the same team they faced at this stage last season.  In last year's semi-final it was Holcombe who progressed and subsequently lost in the final against Surbiton, although East Grinstead - in their first Playoff Semi-Final - gave Holcombe quite a tough match.

This season, EG and Holcombe have played out two very close matches; drawing 0:0 in an EG disrupted season opener as well as an away defeat at Holcombe 0:1.  In that away defeat, Holcombe scored the decisive goal with the final play of the game.

Holcombe are blessed with an array of talent including Captain Steph Elliott, Emma Trunks, Ellie Watson, Nicola White, Lucy Wood, just a selection of names that should be familiar to hockey supporters.

EG of course have a fabulous squad, blending young emerging talent with some exceptionally experienced players.  EG will be boosted by the return of Commonwealth stars - Xenna Hughes, Ellie Rayer, Amy Tennant, Laura Unsworth, and in the coming few days we'll learn of the full squad that will contest the Semi Final.

Captain Ruth Gordon will be leading the team under the direction of Head Coach Mary Booth, Asst Coach Richard Organ and Manager Tony Crisp.

EG play Holcombe at 17:15 at Lee Valley

Parking for Lee Valley is via Westfield or Stratford International, and England Hockey strongly recommend the use of Public Transport to reach the venue.
