Thankyou and farewell, Theo

Theo Dowse's tenure as East Grinstead Women's Head coach has come to an end after four seasons at Saint Hill.  Click through to read more...

Theo rejoined East Grinstead Hockey Club in August 2022 having previously represented EGHC's Mens 1st Team.  Initially operating as Team Manager, Theo quickly demonstrated his coaching credentials and was elevated soon after to Head Coach.  Meticulous and diligent, Theo worked well with the squad and was an integral part of the group that secured the Vitality England Hockey Women's Premier League in April 2023.

One of the prizes for this achievement was the opportunity to work with the team at the following season's Euro Hockey League in a showcase match against host club, Amsterdam.  While the team did not secure victory it was a mature performance from the entire group, Head Coach, Management, support staff and players.  The 3:1 defeat however was followed by EG Women's first ever EHL win, against Gantoise.

In that same season, EG Women secured the first of three back-to-back Indoor Premier League titles, again in which Theo's role was integral.  With the club's passion for the variation of the sport, indoor competition came with its share of pressure and Theo enjoyed very much being able to support the Women in their first triple title journey.

That Indoor progress has continued with promotion from the second European Tier in February 2025 and a bronze medal in Poznan in February 2026.  The latter, an achievement that not even EG's Men's sider had managed during their lengthy sequence of European Indoor adventures.

Theo's impact on EGHC extends beyond coaching our Women's 1st Team.  He played a pivotal role in developing the EG Talent Academy, and also in re-generating our Junior programme in partnership with others across the club.

We are very grateful for Theo's tenure at EG and we wish him and his family lots of happiness and success in the future.
