A message from Club Chairman Mark Hollis;
To all our members and friends;
Initially I would like to apologise to all our members, their families and our supporters for the delay in providing further details following yesterdays announcement by the government.
Having just received the last notification from one of the leagues I can now confirm that in line with the guidance received from UK government, EHB and the various league organisers of the following:-
- All training for Juniors, Men's and Ladies across the club is now cancelled, until at least 15th April.
- All National League events are postponed until 15th April at the earliest. This includes the Ladies 1's league semi final, due on 4th April and possible final on 5th April.
- Sussex Hockey have confirmed that ALL training and games, adult and Juniors, including. Junior leagues, county and inter club fixtures are cancelled awaiting further information.
- The London Hockey League, South Ladies & Men's Leagues have all been suspended until further notice.
- The HCJL have cancelled all remaining league, development league and festivals fixtures. The league finals have been cancelled but they hope that they will be able to rearrange later in the Summer.
- Sussex Hockey Umpires have suspended further appointments until hockey resumes.
The club takes its guidance from quite a few sources who have unfortunately released their responses at different times, so please bear with the committee as we consider these and any other implications which may result from these announcements.
In addition to the implications to the playing side we are able to provide updates on the following :-
- Ladies 1's semi final postponed from 4/4, we are awaiting news from EHB as to when/whether this will go ahead.
- Club social 4/4 - Cancelled but hoping to reschedule.
- Paloume Festival - Cancelled.
- Half term Academy's - Cancelled.
- Annual Awards Dinner 25/4 - postponed, date to be confirmed when we have more information.
- SWS Junior Tour (July) - still too early to consider but we hope to be able to make a decision towards the end of May.
- A decision on the clubhouse and its facilities is due shortly from the operators, Wave Leisure.
We will keep you all up to date, as best we can, but suggest you all monitor our club social media channels and Teamo as these are our quickest ways to get our messages to you, which may be at short notice.
I am sure you will all be aware of the steps you can take to protect yourselves and others, and I urge everybody to follow these as best you can. It is important that we are as proactive in our preventative measures to mitigate the further spread of the virus to hopefully enable us to return to normal.
