It's been a great season for our U14 boys squad, winning their Mercian League, and capped off with victory in the Sussex Cup; click through for thoughts on their achievements from coach Mike Lewis...

It has been a very successful year for the under 14 team; winning the Sunday Mercian League and also winning against Horsham on a very hot Sussex Finals day match to bring back honors to EG.

Many of the boys have played Badgers hockey this year and displayed a growing level of skill and awareness on the pitch. The team that played against Horsham contained two under 12 players who were not fazed by the occasion (Chris Stevens and Luka Jones), and 4 under 13 players (Alex Harley, Oscar Vaughan, Tom Burchell and Reuben Gibson).

All of these will get a chance to retain the trophy, hopefully we can also enter the u16 competition next year and see if a double is possible.

The squad has definitely been strengthened this year by new players in Charlie Tucknott (Badgers player of the Year), Harvey Roberts, Will Blenkinsop and Tommy Sheehan (Badgers most improved). They have all had their own impact and gelled with the existing team. Both Josh Barrott and Luke Holland made the Performance Centre squad and we are incredibly proud of this high standard within the Junior section.

Charlie Lewis and Tom Burchell (U14 Player of the Year) played in all the County Championship matches excelling in the competitive environment, Reuben Gibson played in the last two weekends and learnt a great deal from the raised standard. It has been a pleasure coaching the team this season.

Congratulations to all involved!
