Prior to the start of the 2024/25 season why not take the chance to get to know some of fabulous Junior Coaches we have here at EGHC. 

Individually they all bring heaps of enthusiasm & experience to help provide the best possible coaching to our Juniors. We are very lucky to have such a talented pool of coaches & a massive thank you to them with all the time & commitment they give to the club.

Barney "Barns" Furlong (aka Mr Incredible)

Barney is a dedicated coach at East Grinstead Hockey Club with 5 years of experience, currently managing the Women's 1st XI and coaching the U14 and U11 girls. He also holds a Level 2 FIH and ECB Cricket coaching certifications and First Aid at Bedes School. Notable achievements include winning the Indoor Super 6s in 2024 and managing the Women's 1st team Euro Hockey League debut and finally finishing 5th in the overall standings.



Tom "TT" Tyers (aka Deadpool)

Tom is an East Grinstead HC Premier league player, Director of Junior hockey, National league coach and primary school PE teacher with 11 years of coaching experience. He coaches at all levels, from grassroots to National league, currently serving as EGHC Director of Junior Hockey and coaching Tunbridge Wells Men's 1st team. His qualifications include L2 Sessional Coach, First Aid, Activity Leadership L2, Multi-skills L2, Diploma in Sport L3, and Paediatric First Aid. His passion for coaching stems from his love of sport and the drive to inspire the next generation.



Steve "Jiggy" Innes (aka batman)

Steve has over 15 years of coaching experience with teams ranging from East Grinstead Juniors to Horley Ladies and Men's teams, as well as university and school teams. Currently, he is the Head Coach for East Grinstead Juniors, Men's 3rd and 4th XI, Back 2 Hockey, Crawley HC, and Horley Juniors. His qualifications include England Hockey Level 2 and FAA Level 3 Outdoor First Aid, along with safeguarding certifications. Notable achievements include being an England Hockey Men's Vase finalist and holding a world record for the longest field hockey match. Memorable moments include leading East Grinstead Boys U12s to an undefeated regional tournament and the first win for Horley juniors.



Kieran " K Man" Hanspal (aka Monkey D. Luffy)

Kieran has over 18 years of hockey experience, primarily at EGHC as both a player and coach. With 5 years of coaching experience, he currently leads the U10 and U12 sessions, assists with the U6 to U16, and manages Strength and Conditioning programs for juniors and the Men's 1st XI. His qualifications include Level 2 Sessional Hockey Coach, Level 2 Fitness Instructor, Level 3 Personal Trainer, and Level 4 Strength and Conditioning, with a BSc and MRes in Sport and Exercise Science. Notable achievements include regional hockey competition and being an ISA National Athletics Finalist. Memorable coaching moments are being involved with EGHC and regularly seeing the Junior section progress and gratitude from the players.



Matthew "Bloody" Blood

Matt has been playing hockey from a young age and over the years has won various national titles at Whitgift School, played for the University of Nottingham 1st XI, currently playing for the EGHC Men's 1st XI and was selected for the England U21s/EDP program. He has also successfully led the Men's indoor 6s team at Nottingham to promotion and coached at Nottingham (Men's and Women's teams) for three years and last season at EGHC (U6s to U14s). Hockey has been an integral part of his life which has created great memories, lifelong friendships.



Amy "Thomo" Thompson (aka Mini Bray)

Amy has 3 years of coaching experience and is currently an assistant coach for Y5-6 and Y9-11. Her major achievements include playing for GB U23/EDP, ENG U18, and winning gold with EGHC Women's 1s in the Premiership and Indoor European Trophy. A memorable coaching moment was a Y5 student thinking she was in her 40s. Amy enjoys portrait art, sports, and fitness. Her favourite superhero is Sophie Bray, favourite colour is blue, and favourite food is Japanese. She plays in defence and loves coaching for the opportunity to inspire and mentor young athletes.



Biba "Beebs" Mills

Biba has been playing hockey at EG since she was 4 years old. She made her Premier League debut with the EG Women's 1st XI in 2023, She was in the Indoor Squad that won the National Super 6's and finished top goal scorer in the finals. She has been coaching for the past year and half and really enjoys coaching and giving something back.



Olly "Smarty" Smart (aka Spiderman)

Olly is the EGHC Men's 1st XI goalkeeper and he has 5 years of coaching experience from U8 to U18. He has also been involved in the England and GB program since U16 and he is currently working hard to qualify for the LA Olympics. He enjoys coaching the next generation of EG superstars and really appreciates the support at 1st team match.



Will "Denny" Denny (aka Superman)

Will is a passionate Maths and Sports Teacher at Brambletye Prep School, playing for EGHC Men's 2nd Team. With 7 years of coaching experience from U8 to U16 levels, he thrives on the life lessons that sports offer. He is a lead coach at EGHC and he has reached the National Finals with three teams in 2024 at Brambletye.



Isaac "Faz" Farrant (aka Spiderman)

Isaac is a 22-year-old hockey player from Surrey, starting at Guildford Hockey Club at age 7. After graduating from the University of Nottingham, he joined East Grinstead Hockey Club and has played in the Premier League for three seasons, won the university BUCS gold, and been involved with England Junior squads. He has five years of coaching experience, including junior teams at Guildford, EGHC, and university men's teams. Currently coaching in Australia for UNSW HC and at Kincoppal Rose Bay school but looks forward to returning back to EGHC next season. His key achievements include U18 national indoor and outdoor titles, a Premier League debut at 18, and BUCS gold at the University of Nottingham.
