Dear Members and Friends of EGHC
Can I first wish you all a merry Christmas and wonderful New Year on behalf of The Club.
Who would choose to run a club, school or organisation is these unprecedented times?
Strangely but encouragingly 2020 really demonstrated the value of community sports clubs and the spirit of East Grinstead Hockey Club. We have managed to get all of our members back playing hockey and competing in various leagues.
The ladies have raised money for breast cancer by wearing pink with pride and the men for testicular cancer by wearing moustaches, strangely also with pride!
The juniors continue to play hockey with smiles in all weathers and our levels of volunteering and coaching has never been stronger.
We hope to get back to hockey as soon as we can for all, but for now it will just be the juniors who start back in the w/c 11th January. EH have stated that junior matches can be played locally where both clubs agree but leagues continue to be on hold whilst we are in tier 4.
The committee and I have set three priorities for the season and beyond.
1. Improve coaching at all levels
2. simplify our systems and processes
3. Grow membership
I hope that you will have a distinct improvement in the coaching already this season, but it is something that we want to make the best in the country and will continue to strive to make this happen with our Director of Coaching (Wes Jackson) along with the Men's and Ladies Head Coaches Tim Deakin and Mary Booth/Jason Lee.
These priorities will be where we focus our time and attention and we always welcome suggestions and feedback from all of you to help us make the club as good as we can for your benefit and enjoyment.
Paul Adams
Chairman
