EGHC Ladies 1st Team News Saturday September 23rd

The Ladies have lost several important players from last season’s squad but there are a number of new recruits eager to start their careers for East Grinstead. We have England goal keeper Amy Tennant joining us after a year in Germany, Philli Went, formerly with Chelmsford will add to our defensive capability while England international Ellie Rayer, joining us from Loughborough Students, will bolster our forward line-up alongside Zoe Burrell. Georgie Blackwood, sister of Bridget, joins us from Reading giving an Anglo Kiwi look to the midfield. As usual coach Mary Booth, is looking to recruit young players from local clubs and schools so we will have a number of youngsters in the squad looking to push for places on match days. Last season’s regulars Laura Unsworth, Xenna Hughes and Bara Kavanova had a busy summer representing their various countries on international duty and will provide the core of the defence alongside Maud van der Kamp and Mandi Caillard. Midfield dynamism will again come from skipper Ruth Gordon and Tash Brennan. Former South African International Pip Chapman will continue to provide drive and skill going forward.

Holcombe Team News

Holcombe enjoyed a successful campaign last season finishing runner up in the play-offs and securing a place in European competition. Holcombe will bring international experience to Saint Hill with England & GB players Ellie Watton, Nicola White and Shona McCallin and will provide a tough test for EG. This game will provide a good indication for where the teams are for the 17/18 season.
